School Advocacy

Classroom Support

Often, students’ unmet needs can be communicated through defiance, aggression, avoidance, or other challenging behaviors. Many teachers simply don’t have the training they need to understand and support these needs. I work directly with you and your child’s teacher or school, to educate and advocate for your child’s needs.

We can look at how the student’s needs are manifesting through their behavior, create a plan based on their strengths, and provide information and classroom-based strategies that can create a safe and successful school year.

IEP Support

I provide information and support with the process of getting your child tested privately and through the school system. Using data from the evaluation, teacher, and parents, I can help formulate goals, accommodations, and modifications for an IEP or 504 that maximize the strengths of your child.

I also believe in including older children in the process. I can help create a parent-teacher-student collaboration that ensures the IEP is understandable to everyone, includes collaborative goals, and has accommodations or modifications that build in self-advocacy skills.
